UK Crop Circles June 2018 [HJ]

White Way, near Baunton, Gloucestershire, reported 2 June. The season’s first wheat formation. What is it with circle makers who insist upon hitting fields way before they are ready to receive a crop circle? It just ends up looking a bit of a mess. Photograph by Nick Bull.

Bishops Canning Down, Wiltshire, reported 3 June. Barley. c.200′. Simple rings and circles are the bread and butter of crop circles, but often get overlooked these days. Image by Jane Barford.

Ackling Dyke, Dorset, 4 June 2018. Barley. Probably the best of the season so far, marred only by some sloppy irregularities in the scroll-work. Still, everybody seemed to like it. Image by Lucy Pringle.

Hackpen Hill, Wiltshire, 9 June 2018. Barley. A pleasing design, sadly let down by some errors in its construction, resulting in a rather wonky and lop-sided look. Image by Nick Bull.

Keysley Down, near Chicklade , Wiltshire, 10 June 2018. Barley. Image by Nick Bull.

Stonehenge, Wiltshire, 17 June 2018. Barley. Another circle with numerous irregularities in its construction – look for example at the ‘coffin’ shapes and see how different in shape and proportion they are – but people seemed to like it, perhaps because of its unusual design. Image by Nick Bull.

Devil’s Den, Wiltshire. Reported 20 June 2018, though I’ve heard rumours it was there for at least a few days before that and wasn’t made for the solstice. Barley. This clearly went wrong, and has a definite unfinished look about it. Photo by Nick Bull.

Hackpen Hill, Wiltshire, 23 June 2018. Wheat. c.250′. A very neat and precisely executed design featuring crescents and a pentagram. There’s a story of croppies sitting on top of the hill and seeing or hearing nothing the night this one appeared. Image Allie Hart.

Yarnbury Castle, Wiltshire, 24 June 2018. Barley. Another one that clearly went wrong, in my view, though some see the flattening of the fifth and sixth petals as deliberate. Image by Nick Bull.

Sutton Hall, near Rochford, Essex, 30 June 2018. Wheat. Please, stop appending ‘FoJ’ to your circles. It’s not funny any more. Image by The Crop Circle Connector.
