Barge Inn Under New Management

The Barge Inn is under new management; Pietro Cuomo and his partner Barbara have moved from Rome to take over ownership of the croppie pub. Initial fears that the Barge would be abandoning its crop circle heritage would seem to be unfounded; this summer it shall be home to Monique Klinkenbergh’s exhibition. Crop Circles: The Ultimate Undercover Investigation

Despite the title, there’s nothing ‘undercover’ or ‘ultimate’ going on here. Cheesy as a deli counter 2003 documentary from Julian Gibsone for The Crop Circle Connector. Simeon Hein, Andreas Muller, Stuart Dike, Dan Darby, Peter Sorensen, Charles Mallett, Frances Mallett, are among the interviewees.

The Croppies

Not to be confused with Croppies – which is much more entertaining – a series of German (with English subtitles for the most part) films from the makers of the documentary New Swirled Order. Filmed in 2012 and featuring plenty of ground and drone shots from that season, Andreas Muller, Jonathan Paul de Vierville, Karen Alexander, Michael Glickman, Steve Alexander, Monique Klinkenbergh, Elisabeth Zollinger, Jay Goldner, Ross Holcomb, along with numerous everyday croppies, also make an appearance. Enjoyable to watch, but one can’t help but feel the material would have been better served by editing it down into an hour-long feature.

Note: Part 4 is missing English subtitles (though half of it is in English anyway).

Note: Part 6 is also missing subtitles.

Note: Part 8 is also missing subtitles.

circlemakers.org Interviews

John Lundberg, Wil Russell, and Rod Dickinson interviewed in 1997, for the Croppies documentary. These sequences later appeared in their entirety in Matthew Williams’ Circlemakers documentary (from where they are taken here). It’s good to see people talk with intelligence and insight on circle making. Don’t watch Circlemaker TV; watch these instead.
